Great Winter Run

Dad and I went to Arthur's Seat. Dad did the Great Winter Run and I did the Junior Great Winter Run. My course was 1 1/2 miles long. I did quite well and took about 9 minutes. Dad's course was 5.2km long and he took 25minutes. It was good weather but very windy. Dad forgot his camera so we didn't get any photos. Some of my friends were there and one of them came sixth.

Glas Maol

Max made it to the top of his 11th Munro by climbing Glas Maol. Conditions weren't great with fairly strong winds and visibility rarely extending beyond about 100 m. Good fun nevertheless.

Hannah and Cherry went ice-skating at Murrayfield - and for a long cycle ride !

Greenmantle Dash

Second race of the year at Broughton. Fabulous sunny day for the muddiest, wettest, steepest shortest race of the year. The river was in full spate, the fields particularly muddy and the hill slippy with the wet. A wee bit faster than last year coming in 69 of 119 runners.

Tim's Stag Weekend - Latvia

We departed very early on Saturday morning to arrive in Riga by around 2 pm in the afternoon. After a quick stop at the hotel we headed off to the old town for a wander around the cathedral before taking shelter in a coffee bar. From there onwards to the local Irish Pub and then to a local pool hall. Excellent dinner at a medieval restaurant and then on to a bar until around 3 am.

Warren and Tim decided that the night was still young and proceeded to empty their minibar. They had a failed attempt to wake up me and Ian and empty our mini-bar at about 4.30 am !

The next day we got up late! and headed for Riga Castle and then a fuller tour of the old town. The Museum of the Occupation was excellent telling the story of how the country was occupied by the Russians, then by the Nazis and then by the Communists again. A very grim story.

Went back to the pool hall a second night and another very late night which didn't finish until around 5 am.

On Monday we headed out shooting where we each shot 10 rounds on each of a Winchester Rifle, a Kalashnikov and two pistols.

Busy Weekend

Hannah was busy with football practice on Saturday morning and then the big challenge match with South Morningside. After a heavy defeat earlier in the year they did fabulously well to get a 2-2 draw.

Max had an orienteering weekend. He ran for the East of Scotland in a relay competition on Saturday at Penicuik and then had a great run in the Borders on Sunday.
